Easy cost effective trivet's that look expensive!

For an easy and very effective trivet for hot pans use Porcelain tiles or ceramic tiles  from any big home stores ( Lowes, Home Depot, etc) or tile stores.  prices range from  $.40 to $2.00.  You get to see my two year old as an added bonus...

On the back stick 4 felt stickers (sold in craft/home stores , usually used for bottom of chairs to protect kitchen floors)

Clipboards on the fridge???

I always feel I have so many papers to keep track of, like sporting schedules, bills, etc.  So I found these clipboards for $1.00 at Target (love the Target dollar section) and some magnetic sheets.

...this makes me happy:)

Bottles now for dish soap

Using an old wine bottle or a fun bottle from a craft or decorating store, you can diaplay your dish soap much better.  I am not a drinker so for me wine bottles are not something I have around the house but your local Olive Garden, or any restaurant with alcohol,  will usually have some.

Old windows part 2

I had glass put in and then painted it tourquise.  I also antiqued it with stain, once again, by wiping it off with a rag once you paint the stain on.

Old windows

Painted this old window black, then with crackle paint and then white so the white cracks and give it and older look.  I used Glue Dots to keep my family pictures up.

4x4 Wood, Paint and Printed Photos

Knew ways to display your children's names!!
A couple of years ago I went around the neighborhood with my camera and took pictures of random objects that looked like letters.  I finally used them for my own children.
This says BRINLEE
B is a hose, R is an old fountain, I is a decorative yard piece, N is a letter on the sidewalk, L is a crack in the curb, E is a railing, E is a roof on a shed.

This says EVIE
E is a railing, I is a sidewalk, V is a tree and E is a fence

I had before and after pictures but lost them so let me recap.  First, I went to Home Depot and bought an 8ft 4x4 and had them cut 17 cubes, because that is how many I need for each letter of my children's names.
I then lightly sanded, painted and sanded the edges once dried.  I waited 24 hours and stained the edges and wiped it with a rag.  After they dried I mod podge printed photos and scrapbook paper.  Let it dry and that is it!!

This says SKYLER
S is under a mailbox, K is legs of a horse statue, Y is a fence, L is a crack in the curb, E is a latter, R is an old fountain.

Buckets of fun!

I found these buckets at Hobby Lobby for $3-$4 a piece.  DON'T FORGET THE 40% OFF COUPONS ONLINE!!

I already had some 3m hooks, stencils and green paint so I stenciled "Pencils", "Crayons", "Markers" and "Paints" on each one then painted the 3m hooks the same color.  You can use fancy hooks, door knobs or whatever you like.

End result!!

Wood Palletes!!!

Wood Palleets are free from grocery stores, guns stores, hardware stores and usually anyone else that has them:)  It is perfectly good wood but just not sanded down.

We took off what we could on the back, because it was heavy, and started to paint.  I didn't sand mine because I thought it added to the look.  I painted the pallete "Bone" or just one of the many cream colors. I purchased stencils from Wal-Mart for less than $4 and black acrilic paint for the lettering.

I then used an industrial stapler to put on the twine and then craft clothes pins to hang my children's art.

Metal grate turned into chair

This was given to me by a friend who was sick of having it in her yard.  I eagerly took it off her hands:)  It was weathered and rusted but solid as could be.  See even if it looks like crap always see the potential in it.  Our mom taught us that after buying a old, nasty, abandoned home that we lived in...and yet somehow survived, but is now beautiful.

I went to the local Home Depot and found spray paint for indoor/outdoor use on metal.  I loved the silver look!

done and done...with this part:)

Ta Da!!  This is the finish project and will go in my girl's room, as a fun chair, along with their bookshelf and dresser we refinished.
